Local wifi firm named business plan competition
semi-finalist
GLOUCESTER, ma, April 21, 2008: Hotz1.net, a startup WiFi
service provider in Gloucester, MA, has been named a
semi-finalist in the 2008 North of Boston Business Plan
Competition. The competition is a joint effort of The Merrimack
Valley Economic Development Council, Inc., the Merrimack Valley
Venture Forum, and the Enterprise Center at Salem State
University in Salem, MA.
The North of Boston Business Plan Competition showcases each
contestant's business plan in front of a panel of judges, many
of whom are early stage investors. Winners will be awarded cash
prizes — $10,000 first place, $6,000 second place and
$4,000 third place. The semi-finalists will present their
business plans to the judges on April 23rd and the three winners
will be selected. On May 14 the finalists will present their
plans to a live audience and the judges at the Recital Hall on
the Central Campus of the College (71 Loring Ave) from 4 to
6:30.
Christine Sullivan, Executive Director of the Enterprise
Center stated that this year, "We have received the largest
number of applicants in our four year history and expect to have
an outstanding competition this year." The 2008 North of Boston
competition is an enlarged version of the Enterprise Center's
previous North Shore Business Plan Competition, expanding this
year to include the Merrimack Valley.
Hotz1.net has started operations in Gloucester, MA and is
currently offering services to the Main Street Business
District. They are operating from the Cape Ann Business
Incubator, Inc. (CABI), located at 183 Main Street, which
provides lease space and business support services to their new
